Disease ID Essential for Proper Treatment

Tree diseases include a variety of fungal, bacterial, and viral pathogens. When deciding to treat for a specific disease, it is important to correctly identify the pathogen so treatment can be successful.

Whenever possible, our arborist will field diagnose the disease on your property, but this is not always feasible and a number of diseases can present with similar signs/symptoms. Some diseases, such as with Oak Wilt, may be recommended for laboratory confirmation due to the potential impact on the surrounding trees. Whatever the situation may be, we have the tools to accurately diagnose the diseases threatening our urban trees.

Lab-Based Disease Analysis

At Innovative, we base our treatment regiments on science and don’t guess with your trees. If we cannot positively identify a disease, taking a sample for standard culture and/or PCR testing may be recommended. All of our samples are analyzed by the UW-Extension Plant Disease Diagnostics Clinic (PDDC - Plant Disease Diagnostics Clinic | University of Wisconsin-Madison), and the results are submitted to you with a pathology report and management plan (if applicable).
